My wife, Mary Jane Gibson and I employed Andrecon Construction to assist us with an architectural plan to renovate and enlarge our home at 3 Riverview Drive, Rockport, Ontario. The three of us worked together to formulate a plan that worked. We kept a lot of the original house, but, at the same time we renovated and optimally updated our house. We also added a significant sized family room, foyer with a new front door and a master bedroom complete with ensuite and walk-in closet. A generator and many decks were also added to give us beauty, utility and safety.
We added cherry flooring, refurbished the granite stone fireplace, installed new windows and doors throughout the house and updated the plumbing and electrical wiring everywhere. The old part of the house was essentially stripped and rebuilt with additional and improved insulation added! The result was spectacular and it encouraged us to renovate and update our garage and boathouse when the house was finished. Steve Anderson personally used his skills to do the finished woodwork in the house as well as ordering the building materials and supervising his staff.
We would highly recommend Andrecon Construction for building and renovating homes and related buildings especially if they are on the waterfront of the Thousand Islands. Steve understands how to complete a house that emphasizes the beauty of “The River”!

This is a note to say how pleased my wife and I have been with the new house Stephen Anderson and Andrecon built for us from the late fall and winter of 2011 to the fall in 2012.
We feel very fortunate that a good friend suggested we hire Stephen and we also found an engineer-designer with whom all three of us could comfortably work to plan and execute without delay what we and many others think is a wonderful home. It was a great experience as a result of his cooperation and thoughtful ideas when our sense of loss of the old house made it a daily sorrow for us.
Stephen warned us, with a smile, that he was not cheap but did very good work. Indeed he did, down to the finest details. If we wanted to change something or add or subtract he would come up with a good solution fast and the constant work of his very pleasant crew could continue. He had so many good ideas, and such a kind and helpful manner that it was always a pleasure to see him, or any of his excellent crew, who almost became family friends. The stone mason he brought on was amazing, and did a wonderful job of reusing much of the destroyed 1838 farmhouse’s old stone walls to cover the new taller modern framework.
Every day I notice the fine woodwork he did around the doors and windows and also he personal work on the very specific floor and wall Italian marble tiling in the various bathrooms. His work on constructing a Moroccan arch over the entry from the front hall to the main living area was a work of genius and makes me very happy every single day. I asked Stephen one Saturday afternoon if he could drop over and look at some photos I had. He came over, grasped the concept, mocked it up with two four by eight slabs of foam insulation, drew the keyhole arch curve, cut it out with a boxcutter and tacked it up in no time. I said “do it,” and he did. It was just what I wanted to turn an ordinary home into our home, and it has been admired by visitors ever since.
He was also able to add on late in the construction a large three-season sunroom off one corner of the main living area, with lots of screened floor-to-ceiling screened windows and some wooden beams, and it is now one of the prettiest rooms in the whole house, admired by all.
His painter was also a real master in helping turn the bare drywall into something beautiful.
If you want an excellent, helpful and charming builder, Stephen is the man to see.

In December 2019, I signed a contract for work to be completed by Andrecon on my property at 659 Charles Street South in Gananoque. I signed this contract following a well prepared very detailed estimate and spread sheet of the scope of work and ensuing costs that would be required to repair and upgrade my boathouse residence. This estimate was all prepared on Steve’s own initiative. This major repair was required following the discovery of severe mold and resulting structural damage as a result of previous substandard workmanship on my residence.
Steve and his crew of workers worked diligently and professionally until completion in May 2020. Covid measures had just commenced to be put in place so that added more challenges. However, the work was completed in a timely manner and Steve and his crew maintained their high workmanship standards throughout.
During the process, I had regular meetings with Steve who kept me appraised of the repair situation by documenting the damage he had uncovered and repaired it without my having to request or direct what needed to be done. In many instances the work he undertook resulted in major improvements to the structure and aesthetics of my residence that was above and beyond what was required by his contract.
Throughout this difficult and costly process I was grateful for his professional and cost effective solutions following the uncovering of countless instances of major improperly completed workmanship that would have resulted in severe damage and in some instances, disaster.
Simply put, Steve was extremely professional, knowledgeable and efficient in carrying out this contract that resulted in so many challenging repair situations. He is a problem solver and great project manager. I was always made aware of any extra costs that might be required to be incurred and nothing was done without my approval nor was any work done that did not have to be done. More importantly, Steve proactively anticipated what needed to be constructed or repaired to ensure that we could enjoy our boathouse for generations to come!
I have been involved in many construction projects. Working with Steve and his crew was an extremely rewarding and satisfying process. My property is now stunningly beautiful, and very well constructed thanks to the amazing work carried out by Andrecon. I would highly recommend Steve for any construction project of any magnitude.
